Stuart Appleby has achieved his first Australian title in nearly ten years at the 2010 JBWere Masters at Victoria Golf Club.
The 39-year-old shot up the leaderboard with six birdies to chip away at overnight leader Adam Bland who was unable to impose himself on the final day.Bland finished in 2nd place at nine-under, a shot behind Appleby, while Daniel Gaunt finished in 3rd at eight-under.
Tiger Woods put on a final day spectacular for the thousands of fans at Victoria Golf Club, shooting a round of six-under to finish at seven-under in 4th position.
The only player standing in Appleby’s way was second and third round leader Adam Bland who, despite watching his score go in reverse throughout the day, needed an eagle on the 18th to force a playoff.
Chipping in to 8 feet a playoff momentarily looked likely before Bland’s putt rolled just past the hole.
For Appleby, who took home the $270,000 first place cheque, it was a win that will go down as one of the most significant of his career.

Fans in NSW gathered around our sites to watch his victory whilst enjoying a drink and playing on the various pitch and putt golf activities.
