School holidays, fantastic weather and a giant robotic dinosaur attract huge crowds to 2010 Easter Show
Over 900,000 people once again attended this year’s show, mainly due to the timing of the school holidays, along with record-breaking temperatures for the time of year, with not a single day under twenty degrees!
However, there was one other – quite literally – HUGE attraction this year: Robosaurus! The forty-foot tall, fire-breathing metal giant was the centre of attention every afternoon in the main arena, along with being the focus of the nightly show, which had the arena at its full 20,000 capacity every evening. Both shows each and every day were shown on the huge sixty square metre LED video screen in the arena, with the sound being blasted out through the event’s P.A. system.
Other main attractions included the monster trucks, wood-chopping, pig-diving and rabbit-jumping, not to mention the thousands of attractions all around the show. Over 140,000 Dagwood Dogs, 35,000 corn dogs and a massive 1.65 million showbags where purchased over the fourteen days.
In addition, the Grand Parade was a constant flow of people, with virtually every visitor to the show passing through this thoroughfare. The neighbouring and newly-revamped Overflow Park was littered with people for the new animal shows in the area, with crowds who couldn’t access the Main Arena being able to follow all of the action live every day on the thirty square metre video screen there.
All in all the Easter Show was, as always, a huge success, which will only be built-on in years to come. This year was once again proof that the show was – and still is – the biggest show in the country!
